In
August 2004, Philos Health volunteers traveled to Jagna in the province
of Bohol, Philippines to provide health care services and train local
health care providers. Through June 2011 there have been 24
visits, each one week long, by doctors, nurses and other
health care providers. Philos Health provides services that are not available in the community and trains doctors, nurses and midwives.
MedicinePhilos Health follows the World Health Policy on Drug Donations to developing countries. We ship only first class medicine that has not expired. Medicine is purchased from the IDA Foundation in Amsterdam which is the largest non-profit World Health Organization certified provider of medicine to developing countries. Direct Relief International of Santa Barbara is another key source of medicine and supplies. Philos provides 46 essential medicine filling more than 4000 prescriptions each month.EquipmentPhilos Health has shipped hospital beds and mattresses, incubators, a Sonosite
ultrasound machine, exam tables, EKG machines, anesthesia machines,
operating room tables and lights and much more. All equipment has been
tested by biomedical engineers to ensure that it is in good working
condition. Local staff is provided training by Philos volunteers on
the use of the equipment and are continually updated. |
